- 1/2 cup Dry Steel Cut Oats Rolled oats also can work for this recipe. The oats bring a good source of calories, iron, protein, fiber and healthy carbs.
- 1 cup Water This will help cook the oatmeal.
- 2 cups Any Greens (Spinach, Arugula, Kale, Etc.) A nice, nutrient-dense addition to the oatmeal.
- 1/4 cup Walnuts A healthy source of essential fatty acids, protein, and minerals.
Seasonings (use the recommended ingredients and amounts or season to taste with your own home seasonings)
- 1 tsp Garlic Powder
- 1 tsp Black Pepper
- 1 tsp Lemon Pepper
- 1 tsp Furikake
Add the oatmeal and water into a microwave safe bowl or container of choice. The water level should be barely covering the oatmeal (if not, then add a little more until it does).
Cook in the microwave for 2 minutes.
Let the oats rest for about 30 seconds then cook for another 2 minutes or until the oatmeal is fully cooked (the oats should be soft when touched).
Add the greens, walnuts, and seasonings then mix them in with the cooked oats.
Cook in the microwave for another 30 seconds.
The oatmeal is ready to serve, enjoy!!
