1/2cupDry Steel Cut OatsRolled oats also can work for this recipe. The oats bring a good source of calories, iron, protein, fiber and healthy carbs.
1cupWaterThis will help cook the oatmeal.
2cupsAny Greens (Spinach, Arugula, Kale, Etc.)A nice, nutrient-dense addition to the oatmeal.
1/4cupWalnutsA healthy source of essential fatty acids, protein, and minerals.
Seasonings (use the recommended ingredients and amounts or season to taste with your own home seasonings)
1tspGarlic Powder
1tspBlack Pepper
1tspLemon Pepper
1tspFurikake
Instructions
Add the oatmeal and water into a microwave safe bowl or container of choice. The water level should be barely covering the oatmeal (if not, then add a little more until it does).
Cook in the microwave for 2 minutes.
Let the oats rest for about 30 seconds then cook for another 2 minutes or until the oatmeal is fully cooked (the oats should be soft when touched).
Add the greens, walnuts, and seasonings then mix them in with the cooked oats.
