Chocolate Covered Strawberries

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Fresh Strawberries A healthy, low calorie source of micronutrients and phytochemicals with a sweet taste.

Chocolate Sauce

  • ½ Cup 100% Cacao Chips A rich chocolatey addition with a good amount of iron, potassium, and vitamin D.
  • 3 Whole Medjool Dates A sweetener to the chocolate sauce. Add 1 more or use less medjool dates depending on how sweet or bitter you'd like your chocolate. Also, a great source of fiber.
  • 1 Cup Plant Milk A great addition in order to blend together the cacao chips and medjool gates. Also a source of various micronutrients depending on the product used.

Instructions

Chocolate Sauce

  • In a small blender, add the cacao chips, medjool dates, and plant milk, then blend until mixed thoroughly.
  • Transfer the mixture to a pot on low heat.
  • Heat the mixture on low heat until it is evenly melted then transfer to a small bowl. (If the mixture starts to stick to the bottom of the pot, then you can add small amounts of plant milk at a time and stir).

Chocolate Covered Strawberries

  • Remove the top leafy greens off of the strawberries. (Compost if able to).
  • Dip the strawberries into the small bowl of chocolate sauce and make sure to evenly cover the surface of the strawberries.
  • Place the chocolate covered strawberries onto a piece of parchment paper that is on a plate.
  • Put the plate into the fridge or freezer and cool the chocolate covered strawberries until their surface has hardened.
